Chennai Metro lines explained: Blue and Green
Which Chennai Metro line goes where, where to change between them, and what is still being built.
Chennai has two metro lines open at the moment, and both meet at two stations.
Blue Line
It runs north to south from Wimco Nagar Depot through Washermanpet, Central, Thousand Lights, Saidapet and Guindy to Chennai Airport. See the Blue Line page.
Green Line
It runs from Central through Egmore, Anna Nagar and Koyambedu to St. Thomas Mount. See the Green Line page.
Where the lines meet
You can change between the Blue and Green lines at Central and at Alandur. That makes it possible to ride from Anna Nagar to the airport with one change.
Still being built
The second phase of the network, with further lines in the north, west and south of the city, is under construction. We add a line here once passengers can ride it.
