Where our information comes from

Where our timings, fares and station details come from, how often we check them, and how changes are recorded.

  • Timings and fares come from the operators’ own websites and notices where they publish them. Where they do not, we use news reports of official announcements. If two sources disagree, we leave the figure out rather than guess.
  • Station details (order of stations, opening dates, exits, platforms, facilities and coordinates) come from public sources, mainly Wikipedia. We do not copy text from other guide sites.
  • Every figure shows its source and the date we last checked it. Tap a figure to see it.
  • Nothing is overwritten. When a fare or timing changes, the old value is kept with its dates, so you can see what changed and when.
  • Checked automatically. The site rebuilds every night, and a weekly check looks for new stations and changed station details. Anything that looks wrong is held back rather than published.
  • Distances to nearby places are measured in a straight line between coordinates, so the walk will be a little longer.
